Bangar Church of Christ

Bangar, Solano

Nueva Vizcaya

June 9, 2007

Dear Manong Teofilo,

Greeting!

I remember your word during the Ilocano Lectureship in San Fernando City, La Union this year that you were “suggesting to Leo” to relocate Philippine Bible College-Solano to a bigger town or city like Santiago City, Isabela. “It is not good for two (2) Philippine Bible Colleges to be operating in one town,” you rationalized.

I found your opinion reasonable and Solomonic. Your operation of one Philippine Bible College along Bintawan Road, at the same compound where Solano Church of Christ was supposed to have operated it for a time, and the Solano Church of Christ operating another Philippine Bible College at the place of their worship, is not to the best interest of the brotherhood in the area. Both parties may be subjected to ridicule with this divided set up you find yourselves in presently. In fact some brethren are using the terms “Philippine Bible College-Solano A” and “Philippine Bible College-Solano B” with some derision.

I understood that egos had been hurt and the brethren in Solano had at one time been troubled by the past events including the “reconciliation” that you had been talking about. To this day, there had not been any genuine reconciliation with Brother Daton and the rest of the brethren in Solano. Hurt feelings must be soothed and agonies should come to an end. The shortcut to these is your going out of the Region and let Manong Dan continue what he had started before you went in. It may be the supreme sacrifice on your part to tell Leo Corpuz that it is time to “cut and cut clean”. I refuse to disbelieve that you want to be consistent with your stand about Philippine Bible College being operated by a local congregation.

When Brother Seb Tanicala was the Director of Philippine Bible College and both of us were faculty members, you took the position that it is unscriptural for Philippine Bible College to be under the program of another eldership (sponsoring church) overseeing the program at the compound of another church (Baguio Church of Christ) with another set of elders. I respected your position then because I knew you had it as a matter of principle. Please be an instrument again to point out to Leo Corpuz that what you had been fighting against is the very thing that he (Leo) is doing. When Leo was the Director of the Philippine Bible College “operated” by Solano Church, it was very convenient for you, Leo, and my brother Trifon to become Elders of Solano Church so that you can be part of a ‘local church’ operating Philippine Bible College. So you three became elders in the Solano Church of Christ working with a Bible College that is under the management of another eldership in the United States if you did not and do not now recognize Solano Church of Christ management. However, Leo Corpuz was then under the employ and supervision of another eldership in the United States. Until now, as I understand it, he is under the same arrangement while he claims to be a member of another local church you call “Bangar Church Of Christ”, the same church toted to be operating the school in the heart of the Municipality of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

Manong Teofilo, I care for the good reputation that you have nurtured through the years. I care for your soul. Please, make right what had been done wrong. Be the instrument to soothe hurt feelings and egos. I hope you still HAVE IT IN YOUR HEART that being part of Philippine Bible College at the expense of harmony and camaraderie, as well as the destruction of old friendship is not for the best interest of the brotherhood at large.

Please consider this as a suggestion of a younger brother who had great respect for you. It is with pride that I was one of your ‘disciples’. I am a believer that the master is always better than his disciples. Don’t fail us in this aspect. Please tell Leo Corpuz to get out of Region 2 for the good of all.

Very truly yours,

Pablo M. Lachica

ART MADLAING DONATES WE CARE MATERIALS

Brother Art Gabut Madlaing, Elder of the Golden Gate Church of Christ, California,  USA sends WE CARE materials to the Pongpong congregation for its use in the Evangelism program.  Brother Art coordinates the WE CARE EVANGELISM in his home congregation.  This program involves door knocking to seek prospects for Bible Classes, distribution of religious reading materials and teaching prospects in their homes.  One of the introductory materials being distributed is a revised version of the LIFE THAT MATTERS which was posted in this site as a contribution of Bro. Art.  Below is the email this Editor received from Bro. Art:

Dear Brod,
Virgie and myself delivered the “WE CARE” EVANGELISM materials  last night to my sister-in-law who is going on vacation to Pangasinan on Friday. The materials are: 1) 2 copies of “WE CARE” New Testament; 2) 2 copies of “THE HISTORICITY OF JESUS AND THE RELIABILITY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT;” 3) “WE CARE” GOSPEL PRESENTATION; 4) HOW TO PROSPECT EFFECTIVELY USING THE “WE CARE” FLOW CHART; 5) Prospect reading material “WHAT WILL MATTER?” Please pick up the materials in Cabilocaan, Calasiao, Pangasinan. Ask from Arvie.
You can try the “WE CARE” Evangelism materials in your congregation. However, there is no substitute for a massive “WE CARE” EVANGELISM CAMPAIGN in a town or city. In the “WE CARE” CAMPAIGN in the USA, veteran “WE CARE” campaigners (known as cadres) from neighboring congregations and from other states volunteer their time to a hosting congregation for one week leading door-knocking during the day and conducting “WE CARE” Gospel Presentations during the night. The results are 20 plus to 100 plus baptism in every campaign. One lasting benefit of the “WE CARE” CAMPAIGN is that it will foster a true spirit of camaraderie and cooperation among preachers, elders and sister congregations.
I have seen the revival and tremendous growth of  stagnant and dying congregations after the “WE CARE” EVANGELISM CAMPAIGN. That’s why Virgie and myself are committed to bring Bro. Steven Prine (who conducted the “WE CARE” EVANGELISM WORKSHOP hosted by the Golden Gate Church of Christ in San Francisco, California last week) to the Philippines and conduct massive “WE CARE” EVANGELISM CAMPAIGN in Pangasinan, La Union, Baguio City and other places in Luzon. Our tentative schedule is in February, 2009.
Please pray for this BIG DREAM and plan for the glory of God and expansion of His kingdom in the Philippines!
In Christian love,
Art
